    The Difference Between BLDC Motor and Induction Motor


    BLDC Motor
    1. Speed/torque characteristics: The characteristic curve is flat and can work normally at all speeds under rated load conditions.


    2. Output power/volume: high power density, small volume due to the use of permanent magnets in the rotor.


    3. Rotor inertia: small inertia and better dynamic characteristics.


    4. Starting current: rated value, no special starting circuit is required.


    5. Control requirements: To keep the motor running, a controller is always needed. You can also use this controller to control the speed.


    6. Difference frequency: the frequencies of the stator and rotor magnetic fields are equal.


    Induction Motor
    1. Speed/torque characteristics: The characteristic curve is nonlinear, and the torque is also low at low speeds.


    2. Output power/volume: The power density is medium. Since both the stator and rotor have windings, the ratio of output power to volume is lower than BLDC Motor.


    3. Rotor inertia: large inertia and poor dynamic characteristics.


    4. Starting current: about 7 times the rated value, the appropriate starting circuit should be selected carefully. Typically a star-delta starter is used.


    5. Control requirements: A controller is not required for a fixed speed, and a controller is only required when the speed needs to be changed.


    6. Difference frequency: The rotor operating frequency is lower than the stator magnetic field. The differential frequency increases as the motor load increases.


    The Difference Between Brushed DC Motor and BLDC Motor Speed Control Methods


    In fact, the control of both motors is voltage regulation, but because the brushless DC uses electronic commutation, it can only be realized with digital control, while the brushed DC commutates through carbon brushes, using thyristors, etc. Traditional analog circuits can be controlled and are relatively simple.


    • The Brushed Motor speed adjustment process is to adjust the motor power supply voltage. The adjusted voltage and current are converted through the commutator and brush to change the strength of the magnetic field generated by the electrodes to achieve the purpose of changing the rotation speed. This process is called variable voltage speed regulation.

    • The BLDC Motor speed adjustment process is to keep the voltage of the motor's power supply unchanged, change the control signal of the ESC, and then change the switching rate of the high-power MOS tube through the microprocessor to achieve the change in rotation speed. This process is called variable frequency speed regulation.
